Prodney’s Blog: My latest masterclass – perfecting the afternoon nap

This month is my 42nd birthday. Sadly I don’t remember the precise date, so I’m claiming all of May for special treatment and extra snacks. But in human years that makes me at least 110. Is this the year I get a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth? If so, she’s posted it late.

It’s always busy in Petersham, so there is plenty of opportunity for graciously accepting carrots, scratches and a soothing groom, but at my age I need to boost my energy levels periodically with a power nap in my stable.

Although I’m slightly miffed that Natalie recorded this without me knowing, I’m going to use it as a training video to help the more recent retirees down in the field adapt to their new slower lifestyles.

Prodney is Chief Equine Officer (CEO) at Park Lane Stables, and achieved celebrity status following the TV coverage in 2021.

Park Lane Stables is committed to taking care of all its horses for life. Herd life is the most natural way to live, supplemented by whatever extra care they need as they get older. Just as with humans, that includes increased medical costs and special diets, as well as the usual foot and dental care.
