Prodney’s Blog: The humans asked me to talk to you about Christmas
Is it just me or is time speeding up? I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas, but this will be special, the first back in Teddington in our forever home. I’ll be marking the occasion with some nice warming mash and as many grated carrots as I can wrap my old gums around.
My famous luxurious Russian winter coat is shaping up nicely, and I know that some of the humans will be sneakily warming their hands in it again this winter. The colder the weather, the more humans volunteer to groom me. Not that I’m complaining.
The humans asked me to update you about options available on our Shop and Donate pages, so here goes:
Shop for Christmas!
We’ve been stocking up with cards, bags and books. Current bestseller is the tote bag featuring 10 of the Park Lane ponies captured by artist James Barker. I think the phrase you humans use is ‘snap them up while stocks last’? I’m trying to see past the fact that I’m not featured on the bag, but as Chief Equine Officer I know I should be big enough to not be offended. You can also sponsor a pony of your choice, and that list does include me!
Maybe I should put the case for a Prodney mug, featuring just me?
Gift an RDA session, and other ways to make a difference
If you’d like to help an individual participant directly, you can now gift an RDA session, helping us to run more sessions and reach more people.
We’re often asked what we’d like for Christmas, and the truthful answer is… a reassuring supply of winter feed and bedding to help us all through the winter months. The cost of feed and upkeep of 25 ponies is huge. To give you an idea, here’s what we get through every week:
£20 buys one 20kg bag of haylage, 21 bags @ £420
£22.50 buys one 20kg bag of fast fibre feed, 5 bags @ £112.50
£50 buys one bale of hay, 14 bales @ £700
Our Donate page has plenty of options, from gifting an RDA session, to a set of new horseshoes. And our Amazon wishlist has loads of perfect practical gifts, with lots of choices under £20.
Now after all that mental exertion, who wants to give my old flanks a groom?
