Prodney’s Blog: I like to test drive all the activities in the yard

I’ve overheard myself being described as ‘free-range’ by members of the team, as if I’m some sort of chicken. I can tell you I won’t be laying eggs anytime soon (although given my Russian heritage they’d be Faberge ones if I ever did).

When you’ve been a part of Park Lane Stables as long as I have, you do feel a sense of responsibility for the smooth running of the operation. Visitors are sometimes surprised when I walk up to them and assume that I’ve ‘got loose’ like some sort of irresponsible colt. If you take a moment to tune in, you’ll see that I’m just welcoming you. When will humans learn to speak horse? And perhaps checking to see if you have any treats in your pockets. I also keep an eye on the office, and will check up on the newer horses in their stables.

Carriage riding is a big part of what we offer, and as you can see, our specially adapted carriage is fully accessible. We’ve got an open afternoon coming up on 1 April, so between now and then I’ll be checking that all the facilities are up to scratch, ready to welcome our visitors. I think I can safely say that I’ll be one of the main attractions, as a bona fide influencer on YouTube and TikTok.
