Prodney’s Blog: Natalie’s running 50 kms to celebrate turning 50
We’ve both always loved a good run, but honestly, Nat does take it to extremes. Now she’s doing the Hibernal Hills Ultra Marathon – cantering for 50 kms over the Hampshire hills on Saturday 8 February.
The reason? Well, there’s a milestone 50th birthday coming up in July, so she couldn’t resist when she spotted a 50 mile run. How apt! She did compromise a little, opting to run 50kms rather than the 50 miles option.
She likes to quip that she’s nearly as old as me now, but really she should know better. In human years I’m 123!
There’s a second reason too, of course, which is to raise money for Park Lane Stables. She’s kept this pretty quiet so far, but I think we should share it, don’t you? And I think that between us we should be able to smash her fundraising target of £500. Sadly, I don’t possess a credit card (we aristocrats don’t, you know), so I’m hoping you can help.
The rolling Hampshire Downs may be beyond me now, but I’ll be with her in spirit, hoovering up warm mash in my comfy stable while Nat’s running up hills for hours in the freezing rain.
The start and finish are at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Horndean if you fancy supporting Nat in person, which would help make up for the fact that I can’t be there.
