This is Yasmina with Dougie. Together this dream team have qualified for the dressage competition at the RDA National Championships in July. Wherever they’re placed, we know they’ll smash it, because Yasmina is so determined and so passionate about riding.

When she’s riding Dougie, Yasmina is free as a bird. It’s a very precious freedom given that she is one of many participants who rely on a wheelchair on the ground. It takes six team members to assist a rider with significant mobility difficulties into the saddle. But as this story shows, once there, how far will Yasmina’s skills as a rider take her?

‘Volunteering’ covers so many things, from mucking out stables to physically supporting riders who need extra help to stay balanced in the saddle. They are always around, but also always behind the scenes, including those who work remotely on all the admin, fundraising and marketing. And yes, they all help make the magic happen.
